Shield us from Harm

Shields for Native Americans represent a spiritual and physical protection. This is the shield in its beginning stages that is being prepared for me to take to Harvard. It is being created at Flat Creek Trading Post by Cherokee descendants Kitty and Jimmy Tatanka Sutton, registered Cherokee artist and co-owner of Flat Creek Trading Post in Cape Fair, Missouri.  Here is a link to one of his other creations at Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/listing/69792835/exquisite-gecko-snowflake-obsidian-bone

This shield will eventually include the drawing of a child (By Kitty), and feathers that will eventually also hold the words of our visionaries on what they believe it will take to close the achievement gap.
